Fall Ball
North’s Fall Ball took place Saturday, October 22nd. Every year, Edmond North students look forward to the semi-formal dance in the middle of the first semester, where peers can dress formally and dance the night away.
In past years, the dance tokened the name, “Winter Formal” or “homecoming” dance, but this year it was called Fall Ball.
Fall ball was in the freshman cafeteria and the courtyard. It was a semi-formal dance with a Hollywood theme; a red carpet stretched down the floor while a sign glimmered, “Welcome to Hollywood!”
Fall Ball had a large turnout this year. Junior English teacher Ms. Lewis collected tickets for the dance.
“I was really happy and surprised with how many students showed up and stayed, and it seemed like students had a really good time,” Lewis said.
It was a fun night full of dancing, memories, and music. Sophomore Rachel Romasz is new to North this year. “I was most excited for the music and dancing. I liked that students could request music as it made Fall Ball feel more in touch,” Romasz said.
The dance gives students a chance to dress up and have fun with their friends.
Some people go with a date while others might go to the dance with friends. Most people like to get a group of friends and make plans for the night. Ishani Patel, a freshman, will be going to Fall Ball as her first high school dance.
“I am most excited about spending time with friends,” Patel said.
People like to go to dinner and take pictures before going to the dance. The Myriad Gardens is a favored spot for photos.
Fall Ball had other activities like cornhole, pickleball, giant chess, and checkers. They played movies like “The Princess Bride” and “Jurassic Park,” so even students who aren’t that into dancing have other ways to participate in the fun. Senior Logan Smith enjoyed the dance.
“The best part about Fall Ball was definitely not the dancing. I was outside for most of the time,” Smith said. There was also a specialty soda truck called “Happy Camper.”
Fall Ball was a success and a good time for those who attended.
