Close Call at LaGuardia Plane's Wing Strikes Runway During Landing Attempt

Officials say that the wing of a passenger plane landing at New York’s LaGuardia International Airport hit the runway surface on Sunday as it tried to “go-around” because the approach was not safe.

Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration and the airport said Monday that the plane landed safely after its left wing hit the ground around 10:10 p.m. No one was hurt.

Flight 4814, Delta Connection, had 80 people on board. It was run by Endeavor Air, a subsidiary of Delta Air Lines, Delta said in a statement. The flight went from Jacksonville, Florida, to LaGuardia.

Delta said, “The Endeavor Air flight crew safely did a go-around at New York-LaGuardia by following established procedures.” “The plane landed safely and went to its arrival gate.” We’re sorry for what happened to our customers.

The “go-around” was done because the FAA said the approach was not safe.

This move requires the plane to stop its approach to land and rise again so it can try again.

Delta said the plane was a CRJ-900 and had 76 people on board, along with two pilots and two flight attendants.
