Illegal Immigrant Who Supposedly Got Away From an Ice Station in Colorado When the Power Went Out Was Caught on a Bus

Authorities say they caught the second illegal immigrant who reportedly escaped from a Colorado detention centre last month when the power went out. The person was caught on a bus on Tuesday.

Police in Denver caught Geilond Vido-Romero, 24, who they say is connected to the Tren de Aragua gang in Venezuela. They caught him while he was taking a bus.

Video-Romero was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in February. He was accused of stealing from a store and fighting police.

He and Joel Jose Gonzalez-Gonzalez, 32, are said to have gotten out of the Denver Contract Detention Facility in Aurora on March 18 when the power went out.

The two were not found during a 2 p.m. count, which is when the police realised they were missing.

Assistant Facility Director Mohamed Bennani told Aurora Police that the holding centre lost power around 9:30 p.m., and the back doors of the centre led out to the football pitch.

In nearby Adams County, three days after his escape, Gonzalez-Gonzalez was found. He had been held in jail there before.

Court and police records show that Vido-Romero lived in the Aurora apartment complex that has since been closed down. On a video that went viral and caught the attention of President Trump during the 2016 election, armed Tren de Aragua members were seen entering an apartment.
