Bronx woman charged with attack on elderly woman on Manhattan bound train


NEW YORK, N.Y.

— A Bronx woman has been arrested and charged with assault as part of an ongoing NYPD investigation, police said Tuesday.

Marie McWilliams, 36, was taken into custody on June 3 at 9:30 a.m.

Police said that on May 1 at approximately 4:30 p.m., a 73-year-old woman was riding a Manhattan-bound E train approaching the 5 Avenue/53 Street Station when she was approached by an unidentified individual who began yelling at her. Upon exiting the train, the suspect allegedly punched the woman in the face multiple times before fleeing on a Queens-bound E train.

Police identified that woman as McWilliams.

The victim sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by EMS. The suspect remains at large.
