Washington, D.C.According to authorities on Thursday, a 20-year-old male has been taken into custody and charged in relation to Tequila Parker’s shooting death in Southeast last month.
The event happened in the 2300 block of Pitts Place SE on Tuesday, May 27, at approximately 12:41 p.m. Parker, 32, was discovered unconscious and with a gunshot wound by officers who were responding to a shooting allegation. After attempts to save her life failed, DC Fire and EMS declared her dead at the site.
Using a DC Superior Court warrant, Mercury Ford III of Southeast D.C. was taken into custody on Wednesday, June 18, and charged with First Degree Murder While Armed (Premeditated).
Additional information regarding the purpose and circumstances of the shooting has not been made public by officials.
Arrest made in deadly daytime shooting
The Metropolitan Police Department’s homicide detectives are working the case. With Parker’s passing, Southeast D.C. saw another killing in broad daylight, leading to appeals for information and collaboration from the public.
