Masked gunmen spray fire at Slaughter Beach party

SLAUGHTER BEACH, Del.—A savage shooting at a public gathering earlier this month behind the Slaughter Beach Memorial Volunteer Fire Company left one guy injured and prompted a thorough investigation. Two individuals are currently in arrest.

Troops were sent to a public access point near 359 Bay Avenue in Milford on June 12 at approximately 7:14 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. At a pavilion behind the firehouse, several masked suspects opened fire on partygoers, investigators said. A Dover man, 32, was shot in the lower body as he tried to escape the area. After receiving treatment at a hospital, he was eventually freed.

Through their investigation, Delaware State Police were able to identify two suspects: Tyree Harmon, 22, of Dover, and Tyree Johnson, 19, of Harrington. Both are currently being charged with several felonies.

Arrests and the seizure of a firearm conclude the manhunt.

A light-colored Honda Accord connected to the incident was pulled over by the Dover Police Department on June 20. The driver, Harmon, was escorted to Troop 4 for processing after being apprehended without incident.

Members of the Kent County Governor’s Task Force found Johnson strolling down West Street in Harrington five days later. Throwing a black backpack, he ran away and went into a nearby building. Johnson complied with verbal orders and turned himself in to the police. Investigators discovered a loaded Glock 17 with an extended magazine and ammunition inside the abandoned backpack.

After being taken to Troop 3, Johnson was accused of several offenses. He was sent to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $598,100 cash bond after being arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7.

Additional individuals who were allegedly dressed entirely in black and sporting ski masks are still being sought by authorities. No surveillance footage has been made public yet.
