Trenton, New Jersey. The Trenton Police Department reports that at least seven persons were shot in two different events in Trenton’s West Ward on Thursday, with one confirmed death. The state Capitol building was only a few blocks away from the shootings.
Officers discovered two people with gunshot wounds at Jarvis Place just after noon, the scene of the first shooting. Both patients were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center by emergency personnel.
They have not yet disclosed their identities or health situations.
Around 9 p.m., the second, more fatal occurrence occurred in the 100 block of Passaic Street next to Calhoun Street, just two blocks away. Three men and a woman were among the numerous gunshot victims that police discovered when they arrived on the site. One person was driven by private vehicle, while four others were transported by ambulance to the hospital.
One of the victims of the shooting on Passaic Street died as a result of their wounds, according to later confirmation from authorities. The conditions of the remaining victims are still unknown, and the name of the deceased has not been made public.
A number of shot casings were found on the sidewalk and road on Passaic Street by responding police and crime scene investigators. Late into the night, investigators stayed on the scene to record evidence and take pictures of the area.
No arrests reported in either West Ward shooting
Investigators have not disclosed any suspect information or a possible motive in relation to either shooting, and no arrests have been reported. The Trenton Police Department is asking anyone with knowledge to come forward as they continue to look into both events.
