SECAUCUS, New Jersey.The Secaucus Police Department reports that after a multi-hour standoff at the Extended Stay Hotel on Meadowlands Parkway, a lady was brought into custody early Saturday morning.
At 8:53 p.m. on Friday, police were called to the hotel after learning that a woman was acting strangely and threatening people with knives, among other violent acts. cops reported that the woman barricaded herself in her hotel room after threatening to harm responding cops.
When an emotionally unstable individual refused to communicate with officers for almost three hours, the Hudson County Regional SWAT team was called in to help.
SWAT officers entered the room at around 1:45 a.m. and took the woman into safe custody. There were no reported injuries during the incident.
Following threats and a standoff, the woman agreed to undergo a mental health evaluation.
The woman was involuntarily sent to a hospital for psychiatric examination after her imprisonment. Her identity and any criminal charges have not yet been made public by the authorities.
In order to resolve the incident without causing harm to anyone, Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller commended the cooperation between the regional SWAT team and local patrol police.
