Man wanted in double homicide of mother and son in Henderson, police say

Henderson, North Carolina.A homicide investigation and a public alert for the suspect were prompted by the shooting deaths of a mother and her son in Henderson on Sunday night, which sparked a manhunt.

At at 6:45 p.m., Henderson Police Department officers were called to the 900 block of Maple Street in response to reports of a shooting. They discovered two victims with gunshot wounds when they got there.

The victims were identified as Maple Street homeowners Teresa Davis, 63, and her son, 26-year-old Joseph Jeffreys Jr. Both people were declared dead at the site by medical services.

Since then, department detectives have acquired warrants for Michael Sharron Wright, 41, in relation to the double killing. Wright reportedly drove off in a white Hyundai Sonata with the North Carolina license plate KEE-6554, according to the police.

Authorities warn against approaching Wright because he is armed and dangerous. According to a statement from the agency, this is an active and ongoing inquiry.

The search for the armed suspect is still ongoing.

Police have not said if the victims knew the suspect, nor have they disclosed Wright’s motivation. Anyone with information regarding Wright’s whereabouts is urged by investigators to contact the Henderson Police Department by calling (252) 438-4141 or 911.

There have been no fresh reports of Wright sightings as of Tuesday. Police are still investigating leads both locally and outside.

Although authorities have not provided any information about the circumstances leading up to the shooting, Maple Street residents are alarmed by the killings.

Additionally, the Henderson Police Department is urging the public to provide information that could help identify Wright or assist with the investigation.
