Chester, Md.After winning the top prize in the Maryland Lottery’s Deluxe Crossword 9th Edition scratch-off, a Queen Anne’s County lady turned her passion for crossword puzzles into a $50,000 payout, authorities said Monday.
When the retired housekeeper examined her $5 ticket when she was at home, she saw that she had matched four red and four black words, which is the combination required to win the game’s top prize. Her daughter apparently saw her excitement.
I felt content. I shouted that I had won. According to the Maryland Lottery, the winner recalled, “I won, but my daughter didn’t believe it.”
Dominion Exxon, situated at 100 Dominion Road in Chester, is where the winning ticket was bought. If the top-prize ticket is sold, the merchant will get a $500 bonus.
The woman, who has been playing scratch-off for a long time, stated that she intends to use the money to support her family and purchase a car for her husband. When I informed him I was going to purchase him a car, he was overjoyed, she recalled.
