ENCINO, CA — A high-speed police chase through several San Fernando Valley neighborhoods ended in a violent crash Monday evening, when a suspected DUI driver slammed into a wall near homes in the Encino area.
The pursuit came to a dramatic end just before 8 p.m. near Sherman Oaks Avenue and Fiume Street, shortly after the suspect exited the 405 Freeway.
Captured live by AIR7, footage showed the suspect’s red vehicle crashing into a wall, sending debris flying dangerously close to nearby homes. The car also struck a parked vehicle before becoming wedged in bushes.
California Highway Patrol officers quickly approached the scene, pulled the driver from the wreckage, and took the suspect into custody.
The chase began earlier in the evening and tore through multiple neighborhoods including Woodland Hills, Tarzana, Lake Balboa, and Van Nuys. At several points, the driver reached dangerous speeds and nearly lost control of the vehicle.
Authorities believe the driver was possibly under the influence, though no official confirmation has been made yet regarding charges. Thankfully, no injuries were reported despite the close call for residents in the area.
