Deputy Accused of Threatening Teen Girl Amid Secret Relationship, Federal Authorities Say

There was a federal arrest on Wednesday of a sheriff’s deputy from Miami-Dade County, Florida. She was charged with two counts of child exploitation.

Deputy Carle Miranda Blum, 51, of the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, was charged by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Florida with receiving and making visual depictions of the sexual exploitation of minors, according to a press release from that office. The girl Blum was seeing physically was 17 years old, and she was accused of trading several sexy videos with her.

Blum was charged with recording herself doing illegal things with the girl who was too young to understand what she was doing and crossing state lines to see her. It is said that Blum threatened to kill the girl when the “relationship” fell apart.

WPLG, an independent news outlet, got a copy of a criminal complaint that says the sheriff’s office got a tip on July 14 that Blum was seeing a girl who was too young to be with him. The girl was detained under the Baker Act before she could board a flight to Miami, the day after she turned 18. This was all claimed in the complaint. Blum got her bags back from the airport.

The girl’s mental health “had significantly deteriorated” over the course of the year she was allegedly seeing Blum, the witness told the police.

When police got access to the teen’s phone, they allegedly found many disturbing videos of Blum with the girl, including two videos of Blum “violently choking” the teen.

The messages that Blum and the girl were said to have sent each other led authorities to believe that their conversations were “romantic or sexual in nature.” Blum supposedly “continuously provided a ‘count down'” to the girl’s 18th birthday and said she would marry her, calling her “wife.”

The complaint supposedly included texts and emails between Blum and the girl from February, along with explicit photos and videos sent by the girl to Blum. Some of Blum’s texts were said to be very violent, like one that said, “I really need to RAPE your a—.”

When things got rough in the relationship and the girl tried to end it, Blum is said to have acted very violently. He wrote, “Leave me and see what happens.” In another, it said, “I will f—ing put my favorite knife through your throat and watch you slowly die.” “I promise my grandparents”

The complaint said that the police found out Blum was going to fly up to Atlanta, Georgia, to see the girl after she got out of the hospital. Wednesday, Blum was caught in Atlanta.

Officer Rosie Cordero Stutz of Miami-Dade County said in a statement that the charges were “very disturbing” and “a betrayal of the badge, the public trust, and the oath we swear to uphold.” He added, “The actions alleged stand in direct opposition to everything we represent as law enforcement officers and as human beings.”
