The FOX 8 I-Team discovered that an American Airlines plane at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport collided with a jet bridge, the structure connecting the terminal to aircraft.
The incident occurred over the weekend during late-night hours at Concourse D. American Airlines informed the I-Team that no passengers were on board at the time, as the plane was being “repositioned.”
A spokesperson for Hopkins Airport declined to comment and directed inquiries to the airline.
This event follows other recent incidents at Hopkins Airport.
In one case, a deicing truck made contact with a plane that had passengers on board. As a result, the plane did not take off.
In another incident, a ground vehicle caused significant damage to a plane while passengers were being pushed back from the terminal. The issue occurred when a tow bar on a ground tug vehicle snapped.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in any of these incidents.
