Baltimore carjacker crashes stolen ride into tractor-trailer

Baltimore, Maryland.Hours later Thursday, a man suspected of committing an early-morning armed carjacking was hurt in an accident while operating the stolen vehicle, according to Baltimore police.

Around 5:14 a.m., a carjacking took place in the 200 block of Washburn Avenue. A 49-year-old guy reported to police that a Black male with a gun had approached him and demanded his car. The victim’s Honda Civic was used by the suspect to escape the scene.

Officers were called to a collision near South Hanover and West Cromwell Street at around 10:58 a.m. that resulted in injuries. When they got there, they found that a tractor-trailer had been struck by the identical Honda Civic. The unidentified male motorist was sent to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Firearm recovered from vehicle after crash

From the wrecked Honda, police found a gun. The suspect will be sent to the Central Booking Intake Facility after being released from the hospital; charges are still pending.
