TOWSON, Maryland.According to Baltimore County Police, a former deputy from the Baltimore City Sheriff’s Office was taken into custody last week and accused of sexually abusing a kid.
After the department’s Crimes Against Children Unit conducted an investigation, 35-year-old Jonathan Koritzer was placed under arrest on Friday. After learning of a reported inappropriate interaction involving a minor, detectives started investigating Koritzer.
Koritzer’s employment as a deputy with the Baltimore City Sheriff’s Office at the time of the alleged charges was confirmed by the authorities. Information about the minor’s age and the nature of their relationship has not been made public by the government.
At the moment, Koritzer is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center without bond.
The Crimes Against Children Unit is leading the investigation.
Although no additional information has been made public as of yet, police stated that the investigation is still ongoing. Sexual abuse of a minor and associated felonies are among the charges.
It was not immediately clear whether Koritzer was employed by the sheriff’s office. Whether he has legal counsel is unknown as of Tuesday.
Whether more charges or victims are being explored as part of the inquiry has not been disclosed by officials.
It is anticipated that Koritzer will show up for a preliminary hearing before a judge.
