Brooklyn man sentenced to 25 years for deadly stabbing of ex who ended affair

Brooklyn, New York.District Attorney Eric Gonzalez stated Wednesday that a Brooklyn man had been sentenced to 25 years in prison for fatally stabbing a woman who attempted to terminate an adulterous affair with him.

Sheng Mao Chen, 48, of Sunset Park, was found guilty of first-degree manslaughter earlier this month after a bench trial before Justice Danny Chun of the Brooklyn Supreme Court. Chen stabbed the victim 35 times outside his house in a 2019 murder, which led to the punishment.

After being repeatedly stabbed in the arms, back, and heart, the victim, 46-year-old Xiu Rong Zheng, passed away at the scene. Prosecutors claim that Chen’s 17-year-old son witnessed the attack.

Gonzalez described this case of domestic violence, which culminated in a vicious murder, as extremely upsetting. I hope that the victim’s loved ones will feel some justice and closure as a result of today’s sentence.

After the attack, the defendant left New York.

According to the prosecution, Zheng ended the affair she had with Chen. Chen is accused of harassing Zheng and her husband in the months preceding the murder.

Around 10 p.m. on July 22, 2019, Zheng went to Chen’s house and challenged him. He assaulted her with a knife when she was standing on his front steps, stabbing her five times in the heart and many more times in the hands and back. She may have tried to get away and protect herself during the attack, based on the defensive wounds.

Following the murder, Chen left the state and was eventually caught during a traffic check in Indiana. To face accusations, he was extradited to New York.
