Cop car crippled in wild daylight ambush outside DC complex

Washington, DC On Wednesday night, someone approached and punctured one of the tires of a marked police car parked on North Capitol Street, deflating it in front of a residential structure.

The unattended ship was stationed in the 1200 block, where the incident occurred just after 6 p.m. Nearby cameras’ surveillance footage showed the suspect cutting the tire with a sharp object.

After then, the suspect left the area. The entire incident was captured on camera, and still photos have been made public in an attempt to identify the perpetrator.

The car was owned by the Metropolitan Police Department and was used for routine neighborhood patrols. No other damage was detected, and no cops were hurt.

Public tips sought in tire slashing case

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered by investigators for information that results in an arrest and indictment. Anyone with information on the event is urged to text 50411 or call (202) 727-9099 with their reports.

As of Sunday, the suspect has not been identified.

The MPD has stressed that damaging marked police vehicles is a severe infraction under municipal law, but it has not provided any additional information.
