Dallas Man Leads Police on Chase with Young Children in Car, Faces Multiple Felony Charges

TERRELL, TX — A Dallas man is behind bars after leading police on a dangerous chase through Terrell with three young children in his vehicle, authorities said.

Eddie Jenkins, 27, was arrested Monday morning and is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail, according to jail records. The Terrell Police Department (TPD) said the incident began around 8:11 a.m. when officers attempted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of South Virginia Street.

Police said Jenkins initially pulled over but then sped away, sparking a pursuit that stayed within city limits and ended at Ross Street and Laurel Trail North.

Shockingly, police discovered that three children, ages 2 to 5, were inside the vehicle during the chase. After Jenkins’ arrest, the children were safely released to a caregiver.

Authorities revealed that Jenkins had outstanding warrants from Garland, Flower Mound, and Allen, including charges of assault on a family member, burglary, and injury to a child, elderly, or disabled person—all violations of his existing parole.

In addition to those charges, Jenkins now faces new counts including:

  • Unlawful carrying of a firearm
  • Evading arrest
  • Three counts of endangering a child

Jenkins remains in custody as the investigation continues.
