Daughters of a Lodi Woman Who Died in an Accident Are Worried That She Won't Get Justice

The daughters of a Lodi woman who died in a crash in the Bay Area are afraid that their mother will not get justice because the driver who hit her has fled.

At about 5:15 a.m. Monday, Rosa Baez was going to work at Amazon when she was in a crash on Brisbane’s Bayshore Boulevard with two other cars.

A 35-year-old man and Baez were taken to San Francisco General Hospital. The third driver got away before police came.

Hector Daniel Delatorre-Jimenez, 35, was the driver who fled the scene of the accident. He was later arrested in Burlingame and taken to the San Mateo County Jail on charges of hit-and-run causing injury, hit-and-run causing death, and vehicular manslaughter. The Sanchez and Spivey daughters told KTVU 2 that their mother worked hard and was motivated. People who worked at Amazon said that Delatorre-Jimenez ran a red light and crashed into Baez’s car, which then crashed into another car.

“There was no doubt that witnesses said he looked like he was going too fast,” San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe told the news source.

Reports say that Delatorre-Jiminez was arraigned on Wednesday and officials asked for a $150,000 bail. However, the judge let him go free on his own recognizance.

He was meant to go to the San Mateo County Probation Department on Thursday to get a GPS ankle monitor put on.

But Baez’s family told KTVU that the probation office told them he didn’t show up.

Wagstaffe said that Delatorre-Jiminez should be wanted for arrest.

“He’s 37 years old.” “That age, you’ve lived long enough to know what’s right and wrong,” Spivey told the news source.

She and Sanchez said that their mom was dependable and only wanted to make money.

“It’s only fair that he answers and be brought here and face the consequences for his action,” he said.
