Sunny skies and light winds will bring much-needed relief from the heat and humidity across the region on Tuesday. Highs will top out near 87 degrees, coming in just below the seasonal average for late July. With dry air in place, it will be a pleasant and comfortable day to enjoy the outdoors.
FOX 5 meteorologist Taylor Grenda says Tuesday will be “a fantastic day to be outside,” as low humidity and bright sunshine dominate the forecast. Dry weather will continue into Wednesday, keeping conditions calm and comfortable.
However, the break will be short-lived. By Thursday, heat and humidity will begin to rebuild across the area. Afternoon highs will reach around 90 degrees, with rising dew points making it feel warmer and more uncomfortable.
The peak of the heat is expected Friday through the weekend. Temperatures could climb as high as 96 degrees, and when combined with high humidity, heat index values are expected to soar above 100 degrees. This will make for dangerous conditions for extended outdoor activity.
While much of the weekend will remain dry, pop-up storms are possible Saturday and Sunday. These storms will be scattered in nature but could bring brief downpours and gusty winds where they develop.
Residents are advised to take advantage of the brief break in heat early this week and begin preparing for a return to dangerous heat levels later in the week.
