Driver Charged in NYC Crash That Killed Mother and Two Children in Crosswalk

A woman is being charged with several crimes after she hit and killed a mother and her two children while they were out for a walk in Brooklyn. New York City Mayor Eric Adams called it a “tragic accident of Shakespearean proportions.”

A few hours after the accident on Saturday afternoon, Miriam Yarimi was charged with several crimes, including three counts of criminal reckless homicide, manslaughter, and assault in the second degree.

Authorities said Yarimi’s license had been suspended, and they also said she was going too fast and didn’t yield when she stopped at a red light and hit another car and then a family walking in the crossing.

“I’m going to tell it like it is.” “Someone who shouldn’t have been on the road caused this terrible tragedy,” Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch told reporters at the scene of the accident. “A mother and her two young children were killed.” There’s another kid who is in danger. A family and a neighborhood are in terrible shape.

It was not possible to find Yarimi’s phone number. There was no one to answer the phone at the Kings County courts, and there was no information in the court system about who might be her lawyer.

Tisch said that around 1 p.m., Yarimi’s Audi hit the back of a Toyota. The two drivers, as well as an adult and three children in the Toyota, all got hurt seriously. After Yarimi’s car flipped over, she had to be pulled out of it.

An Audi crashed into people who were crossing the street, and the car then flipped over, according to the police. The woman, 35, and her daughters, 6 and 8, were declared dead at the scene. The 4-year-old boy was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Adams said, “This is very scaring and painful for the City of New York in general and for a very close-knit community in particular.” “A mother who was out for a walk on a sunny day was killed when she was hit.” The whole city is sad about their deaths and praying for their families and the people who lived here.
