New York’s Bronx Police say a verbal altercation turned violent Friday night in the Bronx, resulting in the assault of a 68-year-old man.
Around 6:20 p.m., the event happened close to Davidson Avenue and West 184th Street. According to authorities, an unidentified person approached the victim, got into a verbal dispute with him, and then left the area for a short while.
Shortly after, the suspect reportedly returned with a blunt weapon and started hitting the victim repeatedly in the head, face, and body, according to the police. The suspect left the scene on foot in an unidentified direction following the incident.
During the assault, the victim had numerous cuts and abrasions. He was taken by EMS to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where a medical evaluation was performed and his status was described as stable.
To help the public, investigators have provided a description of the suspect and are currently conducting an intensive search for him.
While the inquiry is ongoing, police release the suspect’s description.
The suspect is described as a man with long black hair, a light complexion, and a slim build. He also wears spectacles with black frames. When last spotted, he was dressed in blue pants, white sneakers, and a black t-shirt.
In an attempt to identify and track down the offender, authorities are looking through local security footage and speaking with possible witnesses.
The reason for the altercation is still unknown, and no one has been taken into custody. The inquiry is still under progress.
