A 20-year-old man was arrested early Sunday morning after Florida Highway Patrol troopers say he was caught driving a Dodge Challenger at 155 mph — more than double the speed limit — on Interstate 4 in Seminole County.
The suspect, identified as Octavius Hunt Jr., was pulled over in the eastbound I-4 Express lanes near mile marker 91 in the Altamonte Springs area. According to the arrest report, troopers initially estimated the vehicle’s speed at 150 mph before confirming it on radar at 155 mph in a 60 mph zone.
When confronted, Hunt reportedly claimed he was “only doing 80 mph.” Troopers noted that three passengers were inside the vehicle at the time.

Hunt’s arrest comes just weeks after Florida’s new “Super Speeder” law took effect on July 1. The law, passed as HB 351, makes dangerous excessive speeding an arrestable offense, punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine for a first offense. Repeat offenders face harsher penalties, including license suspension for up to one year.
Troopers took Hunt to the Seminole County Jail and impounded his vehicle, which is registered in his name, for 30 days. He faces charges under Florida’s street racing and stunt driving laws.
In a social media post, the Florida Highway Patrol warned: “Putting lives at risk to impress others is dangerous and criminal.”
