ORLANDO, FL.According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida, a 58-year-old Orlando man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly threatening Alina Habba, the US Attorney for the District of New Jersey, with violence online.
Salvatore Russotto was accused of threatening to kill or seriously hurt a federal official and of using threats to retaliate against a federal law enforcement officer. On Friday, the indictment was made public.
Court filings state that Russotto used a personal online account to make the threats on May 19, 2025. A slow, agonizing death for HABBA and the death punishment for all traitors were among the communications mentioned in the indictment. According to the prosecution, these words represent actual threats of violence.
If found guilty, Russotto may spend up to ten years behind bars.
Russotto faces a potential penalty of 10 years in federal prison if found guilty on both counts. All defendants are assumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law, as the indictment makes clear.
The U.S. Marshals Service and the FBI’s Newark and Tampa Field Offices carried out the investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kara Wick.
Federal charges were brought against Russotto because authorities claim he made genuine threats against a federal prosecutor online.
