Gunman killed after shooting Baltimore cop in the foot

Baltimore, Maryland.According to a formal report from the Baltimore Police Department, a man was shot and killed and an officer was injured in a police-involved incident that occurred Tuesday night close to the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Laurens Street.

On June 17, at around 7:17 p.m., patrolling cops came up to a male adult who seemed to be armed. One cop was shot in the foot when the man produced a weapon and started shooting during the altercation. The suspect was struck by three officers who returned fire.

The suspect and the officer were sent to the Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland. The eight-year veteran officer is still in fair condition and is expected to have surgery. At 11:14 p.m., the suspect was declared deceased.

The deceased’s name has not yet been made public by authorities.

Investigation ongoing by multiple agencies

The event is being investigated by the Maryland Office of the Attorney General, the Homicide Section, and the Special Investigations Response Team (SIRT) of the Baltimore Police Department. In compliance with its Critical Incident Recordings Policy, the department will make body-worn camera footage public.
