JOPPA, Md. After a reported mental health crisis at a home in the 500 block of Renee Drive, Harford County Sheriff’s deputies safely arrested a man Saturday afternoon.
After learning that the man was having a mental health crisis and that there were several firearms and other people inside the apartment, deputies from the Southern Precinct arrived on the scene at around 3:10 p.m.
The Crisis Negotiation Team and Special Response Team from the sheriff’s office were sent to the scene. After making contact with the man, authorities were able to end the matter without any more incidents or injuries.
According to a statement from the department, deputies successfully reached the male subject and safely took him into custody without any additional incidents.
No injuries were recorded during the response, and no arrests were made after the intervention.
The community is commended for working together during the reaction.
Residents of the region were thanked by officials for their cooperation and patience throughout the situation. The sheriff’s office stressed the value of community support in handling delicate mental health situations.
