Iowa is Expected to Have Thunderstorms, Hail, and Snow as the Country as a Whole is Hit by a Strong Storm

Storms that are affecting the rest of the country this week could bring lightning, hail, and even snow to Iowa.

From Wednesday on, a strong storm will move along the Pacific Coast and affect almost the whole country. The storm will hit the middle of the US by Friday.

This is what the weather report for Iowa says will happen.

What will the weather be like in Iowa the rest of the week?

There is a chance of thunderstorms on Friday afternoon, and damaging winds and big hail could be part of the bad weather.

Jeff Zogg, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Des Moines, says that the area along and east of Interstate 35 would have the highest chance of bad weather. The weather is expected to be the busiest on Friday afternoon and evening.

Zogg said that there is still some room for change in terms of when and how bad the storms will be because they are still a few days away.

“Stay tuned to the latest forecast because there could be some changes to the area that is under the most threat as well as the kinds of weather we are expecting,” said Zogg.

How much rain and snow could Iowa get?

Zogg said that Iowa might get a little snow on Saturday afternoon as the storm moves away. Zogg said that the Des Moines area probably won’t get a lot of snow, but there’s a chance of flakes.

It might rain or snow a total of 1/4 to 1/2 inch in the Des Moines area. More of it will fall in the northwest parts of the state. It might rain at least an inch in northern Iowa. Some people may have to cancel their St. Patrick’s Day plans because of the rain, but Zogg said the moisture is good because the northern part of the state is very dry.

What will the weather be like in Des Moines?
