Jackson, New Jersey This month, the Jackson Zoning Board needs to fill a number of vacancies. The town’s zoning board, formerly the Zoning Board of Adjustments, considers and hears applications for non-conforming buildings.
Builders must apply to the zoning board in order to construct a structure that does not comply with current zoning regulations. The zoning board will then hear public testimony before determining whether or not to approve the application.
A Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA) is a municipal board in New Jersey that considers and renders a decision on appeals of zoning authorities’ rulings as well as petitions for deviations from zoning rules. In essence, it gives landowners a way to request a break from the rigorous enforcement of zoning regulations in situations where doing so would be extremely difficult or where a proposed use is not expressly allowed.
The zoning board normally convenes twice a month at town hall on the first and third Thursdays at 7:00 p.m.
