ABINGDON, Maryland.According to Maryland State Police, a hit-and-run accident on northbound I-95 in Harford County early Sunday morning claimed the life of a 33-year-old man.
Around 2:08 a.m., troopers from the JFK Memorial Highway Barrack arrived on the scene and discovered the male pedestrian dead just south of the Riverside Parkway exit. His identity is being kept secret until his nearest of kin is notified.
According to the preliminary inquiry, a car thought to be a 2021–2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee struck the pedestrian who was crossing the freeway in the left lane. The motorist has not yet been recognized and left the scene.
The car did not stop following the crash, according to Maryland State Police. The reason the pedestrian was on the highway and whether any other vehicles were involved have not been established by investigators.
The investigation is being led by the Maryland State Police Crash Team. The suspect car is still at large, and no one has been taken into custody.
