Dallas, TX – A high-speed car crash turned into a devastating scene early Sunday morning when a vehicle crashed into two homes, leaving one person dead and another critically injured, according to the Dallas Police Department.
The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. near the 6800 block of Woodwick Drive in Southeast Dallas. Authorities say the car, a Lexus sedan, lost control and barreled through two homes in the residential neighborhood.
Chris Evers, a resident of one of the affected homes, described waking up to what sounded like a thunderclap.
“We heard a very loud bang, it sounded like thunder or lightning,” Evers said. “We got up and by the time I got down the hall, my daughter was in the hall and there was a lot of smoke,” he added.
According to Evers, the car smashed through the wall of their neighbor’s house after damaging the front of his own home. His daughter had been asleep in the very room the vehicle hit but escaped without injury.
“If things hadn’t happened the way they had, it could be a much more difficult morning for us,” he added.
