The city of Philadelphia According to authorities, a speeding SUV struck a 60-year-old man on North Broad Street early Monday, resulting in his death in a hit-and-run accident.
At around 12:44 a.m., officers from the 25th District of the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the scene of a pedestrian being struck in the 2700 block of North Broad Street. Investigators say the woman was trying to cross the roadway from the east side to the west side against a red light when she was hit by a dark SUV moving north at a fast pace.
The car struck the man and then drove away, heading north on Broad Street. The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital by Philadelphia Fire Department medics, and at 1:08 a.m., he was declared dead.
Police locate the car.
Later that day, officers made a significant discovery: they found the car that had been involved in the collision. Police discovered a black Chevrolet Equinox on the 2000 block of Beach Street at around 3:00 p.m.
The Crash inquiry Division is in charge of the ongoing inquiry into the deadly incident. In order to notify the victim’s family, authorities have not yet disclosed the victim’s identity.
The driver of the SUV involved in the hit-and-run has not yet been recognized by police, nor have they reported any arrests.
