Shampoo Was Taken Off the Market Because It Contained Germs That Could Make People Sick

A brand of shampoo has been taken off the market because it might be bad for your health.

Henkel, a company that makes consumer brands, said on Tuesday that Tec Italy Totale Shampoo has been taken off the shelves because it might be contaminated with Klebsiella oxytoca bacteria.

According to a press statement sent to Fox News Digital, Henkel’s Mexico unit voluntarily recalled 1,068 units of the shampoo because microbiological tests showed that bacteria were present.

Henkel warned that the shampoo could have gone to other states after it was given out in New York and California.

The goods were also sold straight to customers by stores.

The shampoo that is being recalled comes in a 33.81-ounce (1-liter) green plastic bottle that has the UPC code 7501438375850 and the lot number 1G27542266 written on the side.

People who are exposed to these bacteria can get eye, nose, and skin infections, and Henkel says that “additional reactions for consumers with immune-compromised conditions.”

The company said in a press statement that there have been no reports of harm or injury to users because of these products.

“Consumers who experience symptoms, or have any medical questions associated with this recall, should consult a physician immediately.”

People who bought the Tec Italy Shampoo Totale bottles that were recalled should “stop using the product and return the products to their place of purchase for a full refund,” Henkel said.

“Tec Italy seeks to minimize all inconvenience this may cause consumers and [is] committed to their complete satisfaction,” it said.

It said, “Henkel is conducting this recall with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.”
