South Carolina Man Charged With Shoplifting at Dollar General Held on $450K Bond, Police Say

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says that a guy from Lexington was recently arrested in another South Carolina county on multiple charges related to an incident at a Dollar General store.

The sheriff’s office said in a news statement that Faron Lee Brown, 60, was charged with shoplifting enhancement, identity fraud, and trafficking meth.

The charges are based on what happened at the Dollar General store at 6025 Columbia Road on March 10. That’s near Exit 139 on I-26 in the St. Matthews area of Calhoun County.

The sheriff’s office first asked for help identifying a guy seen on surveillance video who they said was stealing from the Dollar General. The Richland County Sheriff’s Department helped confirm that the man was Brown, the news report said.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office said that 16 grams of meth were found in Brown’s car’s engine area when he was being arrested.

The statement says that Brown’s bond was set at $450,000 at his court date on March 13. It wasn’t known if the bond was paid.

Lexington County court records show that Brown was out on bond from earlier arrests when he was caught last week. Charges are still pending against him.

Court records show that Brown was charged with resisting arrest in September 2023 and given a $25,000 bond.

Court records show that Brown was arrested again a year later when he was charged with third-degree domestic violence and failing to appear on a charge of identity fraud in September 2024. Court records show that the bond for all of these charges was set at $5,000.
