Stafford, Virginia.According to authorities, a 49-year-old Stafford man was taken into custody Thursday evening after purposefully colliding with another car during a road rage incident in North Stafford.
Around 9:20 p.m., deputies were called to a crash scene near the intersection of Stafford Market Place and Garrisonville Road. They arrived and concluded that the incident was not an accident.
When another car tried to merge into his lane, Jason Nance got upset, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. Nance accelerated and purposefully hit that car as it stopped in traffic, resulting in damage over $1,000.
At the scene, Nance was arrested and charged with both vandalism and assault and violence. He was placed under $1,000 bond and taken to the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
Driver reaction, not traffic conditions, caused the collision.
Investigators came to the conclusion that Nance’s actions were intentional rather than the consequence of bad weather or bad roads. The event did not result in any reported injuries.
No other information regarding the victim or whether the cars were taken away from the scene has been made public by the sheriff’s office.
The matter is still being reviewed, according to authorities.
