Denver Friday Weather Storms Move Out and Sizzling Heat Expected - July 24

Denver, CO — After a stormy Wednesday evening, residents across the Denver metro area and eastern plains will wake up Thursday to mostly cloudy skies and cooler overnight temperatures dipping into the low 60s. But don’t get too comfortable — the break in the heat will be brief.

Thursday brings a mix of sun and clouds, along with below-average daytime highs in the low to mid-80s along the I-25 corridor. However, the region isn’t done with wet weather just yet. Another round of slow-moving, scattered storms is expected to develop across the Front Range and eastern plains beginning mid-afternoon.

“Storms will begin to fire up around 2–3 p.m. and continue through the early evening hours,” forecasters said. “The primary concern once again will be flash flooding, especially in areas already saturated from recent rainfall.”

The heavier rain is being driven by a renewed monsoon flow, bringing a surge of tropical moisture back into the state. This setup increases the risk of localized flooding, particularly in mountain regions and low-lying areas that have already experienced heavy rain.

Heat Returns Friday

By Friday, the heat makes a strong comeback. High temperatures will climb into the low to mid-90s on both Friday and Saturday. And by Sunday, many lower-elevation areas could be flirting with triple-digit temperatures.

Denver’s record high for July 27th stands at 98°F, set in 1964 — and forecasters say it could be challenged this weekend.

The weekend will be hot and mostly dry for the Front Range, offering little relief for those sensitive to high heat. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak hours, and take precautions against heat-related illnesses.

The scorching weather will linger into early next week, with a chance for a few afternoon storms returning on Tuesday and Wednesday. But overall, the pattern favors continued heat and limited rainfall for the Denver region.
