The Social Security Administration has updated 7 million death records as part of a federal cleanup initiative

Washington, D.C. – The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has revealed a major development in its initiative to rectify outdated death records at the Social Security Administration (SSA).

In a recent update on X, previously known as Twitter, Elon Musk, the unofficial leader of DOGE, revealed that more than 7 million Social Security numbers lacking recorded death confirmations have been refreshed in SSA databases. This comes after an earlier announcement from Musk this month, where 3.2 million records were identified as deceased.

Musk, currently managing the federal spending cuts under President Donald Trump, has previously asserted that millions of centenarians could still be receiving benefits. The SSA contests this claim, asserting that the majority do not receive benefits and do not have a recorded date of death.
