BROOKLYN, N.Y.—Police are looking for someone who stole a woman’s iPhone from her on a Bushwick subway train early on May 26.
The event happened at the Jefferson Street subway station at approximately 1:50 a.m. while a 21-year-old lady was traveling south on a L train. The victim’s cellphone was taken from her hands by an unidentified male as the train doors were closing, according to the police.
After then, the suspect left the station on foot and headed in an unidentified direction. There were no reported injuries.
The person is described as dark-skinned and masculine. He was dressed in black sneakers, white shorts, a white shirt, and a white baseball cap at the time of the incident.
No surveillance footage or other identifying information about the suspect has been made public by the police.
Investigation ongoing in subway phone snatching
The NYPD is requesting the public’s help in identifying the suspect as they continue their investigation into the crime.
The theft seems to have been a random, opportunistic crime, and there is no proof that the victim and suspect knew one another.
Transit crime units are searching for leads by watching MTA footage from the platform.
